How can I keep my home’s pipes from freezing?

Before a hard freeze, disconnect and drain outdoor hoses, protect outdoor faucets, and insulate exposed water lines in unheated areas such as garages, crawl spaces, and cabinets along exterior walls. During severe cold, keep garage doors closed, allow warm room air into cabinets with vulnerable pipes, and keep the home heated. A small cold-water drip at a susceptible faucet can also help when temperatures are very low.

If you will be away, leave the heat on and follow the American Red Cross guidance of at least 55°F. For exposed or repeatedly frozen lines, ask Stanley about plumbing service.
