A ductless mini split is a heating and cooling system with an outdoor unit and one or more indoor units. Refrigerant lines connect the units, so the system can serve rooms or zones without using central supply ducts for those indoor units.
When it is useful
A mini split may be considered for a room addition, a space with no existing ducts, or an area that needs separate temperature control. The right number of indoor units and their capacity depend on the room loads, layout, and installation conditions. A professional assessment helps avoid a system that is too small or too large for the space.
