A tankless water heater heats water as it flows through the unit instead of storing a full tank of hot water. When a fixture calls for hot water, the unit heats the water passing through it. It does not provide unlimited hot water at every flow rate.
Choosing the right unit
Household demand, incoming water temperature, fuel or electrical capacity, and the number of fixtures used at once affect sizing. Installation requirements and maintenance also vary by model and local water conditions. A plumber can check whether a tankless unit fits the home’s needs and utilities.
