Heat Pump

A heat pump moves heat between indoors and outdoors. In cooling mode, it removes heat from the home. In heating mode, it brings heat indoors. Because it transfers heat rather than making it by burning fuel, one system can often provide both heating and cooling.

What to consider

Performance depends on the equipment, outdoor conditions, home insulation, sizing, and installation. Some homes use supplemental heat during very cold weather. A technician can compare equipment options against the home’s heating and cooling needs rather than choosing by a rating alone.
